About Us

The Alto Police Department (APD) is the primary law enforcement agency for the United Islands of Alto. APD is responsible for maintaining public safety, enforcing local and territorial laws, and fostering positive relationships between the department and the communities it serves.

The department operates out of its headquarters in downtown Alto, with substations in Cape Alto and the Terminal Island district. APD provides patrol, investigative, and community policing services across all municipalities and unincorporated areas within the UIA.

  • Traffic Enforcement: Speed enforcement, DUI checkpoints, and accident investigation.
  • Community Policing: Neighborhood liaison officers, community meetings, and youth outreach programs.
  • Marine Unit: Waterway patrol and enforcement for Alto's harbors, channels, and inter-island waters.
  • Records & Reports: Public access to police reports, background checks, and crime statistics.
  • Animal Control: Stray animal response, pet licensing enforcement, and wildlife management.
