UIA Highway Administration
The UIA Highway Administration (UIAHA) is the federal agency responsible for the planning, construction, and maintenance of the federal highway system across the United Islands of Alto. UIAHA manages inter-island causeways, federal highway routes, and bridge infrastructure that connect the islands' communities.
Responsibilities
- Planning and construction of federal highways and inter-island causeways
- Maintenance and inspection of federally designated bridges and roadways
- Setting federal highway design and safety standards
- Administering federal transportation funding to local governments
- Traffic safety research and data collection
- Coordination with the City of Alto Department of Transportation and Department of Public Works on shared infrastructure
Federal Highway System
The UIA federal highway system connects Alto's major population centers and islands. Federal routes are designated by number and are maintained to federal standards, while local roads and streets fall under city jurisdiction.
Key routes include connections between downtown Alto, Cape Alto, Terminal Island, and the outer island communities. The causeway system is a critical piece of federal infrastructure, providing the primary transportation links across the archipelago.
