Parking

The City of Alto manages metered street parking, municipal lots, and residential parking permits across the islands. The Parking Division operates under the Department of Transportation.

Municipal Parking

Metered Parking

Metered parking is available throughout downtown Alto and the Cape Alto commercial district. Meters accept coins and contactless payment.

Municipal Lots

Public parking lots are located at the following locations:

  • City Hall Lot — 1 City Hall Plaza (2-hour limit during business hours)
  • Causeway Lot — 2400 Causeway Blvd, Cape Alto (all-day parking available)
  • Terminal Island Lot — Port Authority Way (no time limit)

Residential Parking Permits

Residents in permit-restricted zones may apply for an annual residential parking permit. Permits are issued per household and are tied to a specific vehicle registration.

  • Annual Fee: Contact the Parking Division
  • Apply: In person at City Hall or by mail
  • Required Documents: Proof of residency, vehicle registration

Parking Citations

Citations can be paid online, by mail, or at the City Hall Cashier's Office. Unpaid citations over 30 days may result in additional penalties.

  • Contest a Citation: Submit a written appeal to the Parking Division within 21 days of issue.
