Trash & Recycling
The City of Alto provides curbside trash collection, recycling, and green waste pickup for all residential properties within the United Islands. Commercial waste services are available through licensed haulers.
Residential Collection
Schedule
Residential collection operates on a weekly schedule. Your collection day depends on your neighborhood zone.

What Goes Where

| Blue — Recycling | Paper, cardboard, glass bottles, aluminum cans, plastic containers (#1–#7) |
| Green — Green Waste | Yard trimmings, leaves, branches (under 4 feet), untreated wood |
Guidelines
- Place bins curbside by 6:00 AM on your collection day.
- Bins should be removed from the curb by 8:00 PM on collection day.
- Do not place loose items outside of bins.
- Excess trash beyond bin capacity should be placed in clearly labeled bags next to the bin.
Bulk Item Pickup
Residents may schedule up to four bulk item pickups per year at no additional charge. Bulk items include furniture, appliances, mattresses, and other large household items.

- Lead Time: Requests require at least 5 business days notice.
Hazardous Waste
Household hazardous waste — including paint, batteries, electronics, and chemicals — should not be placed in any curbside bin. Drop off these items at the Alto Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
